March 2025

Happy Spring Break ESQE Families!

It has been a busy second term at ESQE! Check out some of the learning fun below!

A reminder that some students will be receiving their Written Learning Update on MyEd (or paper copy if requested) today, while some will be sent home no later than April 30th after Spring Break. Teachers will communicate when to expect them.

Save the date for our Celebration of Learning on Wednesday, April 23rd! Students will be released for early dismissal at 2:03pm on this day and there will be afternoon and early evening appointments you can sign up for. More information to come the first week back, including how to sign up to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!

We hope everyone has a fun and safe Spring Break. We will see everyone on Monday, March 31st.

Sincerely,

Sarah Hain
ESQE Principal

Spring Break!
Wow, we cannot believe it is already that time of year! Here are a few tips and tricks to have a fun Spring Break and help ease the transition back to school:

  • Routine is key! It is important to try and keep similar routines to when students are in school; including a sleep schedule, and keeping active.  Check this out for some tips and tricks to help ease the transition back to school on March 31st.
  • Staying in Squamish for the break, check out these local activities for kids!

Help! We my lose our PAC hot lunch
Volunteers needed ASAP!
PAC needs your help to keep hot lunch running. We are having hard time finding volunteers to keep this program going, and unfortunately if we cannot fill all our volunteer spots for the rest of the year by April 1st, we will have to cancel ALL hot lunches that are run by the PAC on Fridays.

If you can find time to help out between 10:45am - 12:45pm for one shift, that would help us so much!

If you are sick and cannot make your shift, we ask that you please find someone to step in for you so that we still have enough volunteers for that day.

SQE Playground!
Our PAC worked unbelievably hard to raise funds to upgrade our swing set to be more inclusive. Construction will take place over spring break. Check out the NEW swings when we return!

The project continues as we raise the funds to upgrade the rest of our playground. With the modern designs of playgrounds we are able to create an accessible playground that all students, no matter their mobility, are able to enjoy! Any little bit helps, so if you'd like to donate towards this cause, click here!

Celebrating SQE
Ms. Sorensen & Mr. Georgy-Embree's class took a trip into the city and into Space, visiting the H.R. MacMillan Space Center!

Mme. Regnier's class has been observing the life cycle of a salmon, starting with them as eggs. They are currently at the Alevin stage, with their yolk sacs attached to their bodies. It has minerals, proteins, and the salts it needs in the sac - kind of like a lunch kit. It will disappear as the Alevin's absorb it and become swimming Fry in 3 or more weeks.

Mme. Regnier and Mr. Castrillo's class also hosted Jackie and Henry Williams, elders from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). They shared their stories and experiences, providing a rich experience for our students. Thank you to Ms. B for organizing, and to our students for being respectful and welcoming.

Thanks to the efforts of our Indigenous Support Worker, Bev, Ms. Stewart, and Ms. B, we have a growing weaving club!

Spring is in the air! Check out this beautiful pieces of art facilitated by Ms. Duncan!  Students from Mme. Paquette, Mme. Hryhirhchuk, Ms. Keller, Mrs. Sorensen, and Mr. Georgy-Embree created this piece together in celebration of the coming of spring! Mrs. McQueen's class designed tulip compositions, and Mr. Dion's students are seen embracing their flower power!
